Police Blotter: Purse Snatched at Woman's Home

Grosse Pointe Park police are looking for a man who stole the purse of a resident as she approached her porch. The following information is obtained from the Grosse Pointe Park police department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

police are looking for a man who stole the purse of a resident in the 1000 block of Wayburn Street June 6 as she approached her home. The 23-year-old woman told police she got out of her car and began walking to her house to discover the man on her front porch demanding her purse. The woman told the man no and fought the theft, but the man got it away from her. He then ran away between neighboring homes, according to a report. The man is described as about 25 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, black with a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a light blue T-shirt and dark jeans, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 822-7400.

Police Seek Warrant in Alleged Assault

Grosse Pointe Park police are pursuing a warrant for assault against a man who they say approached another man near Mack Avenue and Wayburn Street June 2 and punched him in the face. The victim, 20, did not need medical attention. The person against whom police will seek charges also has an outstanding warrant from the Park in an unrelated case. He approached the victim, they exchanged words and then he punched the man in the face, according to a police report.

Police Investigate Home Break-Ins

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the break-in at a home in the 15000 block of Vernor Road where the back door was kicked in between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  June 2. Police do not have a suspect and the loss, if any, is unknown, according to a report.

Park officers are also investigating a break-in in the 1400 block of Berkshire Road in which a man was spotted jumping a fence and entering the home through an unlocked window.  Several items were reported stolen between 9 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. June 3, according to a report. 

Bike Theft Reported

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of a boys' red mountain bike from an open garage in the 15300 block of Windmill Pointe Drive June 3 between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., according to a report.
