Police Blotter: Refusal to Stop Ends in Arrest

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety from the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police arrested two Detroit men Feb. 10 after they led a patrol officer on a pursuit in which they drove the posted speed limit and followed all traffic signs.

The men drove out of a driveway on Maryland near Mack Avenue about 3 p.m. Feb. 10 in a vehicle that did not have a license plate. A patrol officer turned on his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop but the driver kept driving. He drove to Warren and Chalmers before stopping for the officer. Both men, ages 21 and 25, were arrested, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of a 2002 Chrsyler Sebring from the 1000 block of Wayburn. The car was parked in the street and was locked. It was stolen between 4 p.m. Feb. 9 and 7 a.m. Feb. 10. Officers did not find broken glass in the area from where the car was stolen, according to a report.

Thefts, One Attempted Theft Reported

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating several unrelated thefts.

  • Between Jan. 10 to Feb. 12, a men's and a women's mountain bike were each stolen from a detached garage in the 700 block of Barrington Road.
  • On Feb. 10, a UPS package was reported stolen from a porch in the 1300 block of Lakepointe.
  • On Feb. 6, a 2007 Grand Prix had its passenger side window broken and the glove box was searched. The owner did not report anything missing, according to a report.

In another theft, Park police arrested an 18-year-old Detroit man for stealing an iPad and a Dell laptop computer from the passenger seat of a 2005 Mercury Montego Feb. 7.
