Police Blotter: Rep. Bledsoe's Car Stolen

The following information is gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police are investigating the theft of Rep. Tim Bledsoe's car from outside his home. Bledsoe called police early March 26 after going outside to discover his car was no longer parked in his driveway.

He said he parked it near the garage about 8 p.m. the night before. He told officers the back door of the car may have been unlocked and that his keys, which he normally places on a shelf near the back door, were gone.

About 1:30 p.m. March 26, offices spotted the car parked on Neff Road with damage to the left front bumper and the right rear panel. The review mirror was also broken off and a spare tire had been put on the right rear wheel well.  Officers did not see any damage to the ignition and had the car towed for evidence, including fingerprints.

Meanwhile, an officer went back to Bledsoe's home to inform him the vehicle had been recovered and Bledsoe informed them he had damage to an archway near his driveway--damage police believe was caused during the car theft because mortar dust was found on the car, according to a report.

Catalytic Converter Stolen

City of Grosse Pointe police are investigating the the theft of a catalytic converter from a car parked in the 16800 block of St. Paul March 21. The owner told officers she parked the car in its spot the night before and when she started it the next morning it was running really loudly. She called a mechanic, who discovered the converter to be missing. She called police to report it stolen, according to a report.

Theft of Personal Hygiene Goods Ends in Arrest

City of Grosse Pointe police arrested a 45-year-old Detroit man for first degree retail fraud March 20 after he left in the Village without paying for several items. The man was found to have four bottles of lotion, three sticks of deoderant, two bottles of shampoo and three boxes of razor blades, all of which is valued at about $100. The man was also charged with resisting police officers after he refused to stop when officers approached and led them on a two and a half block chase, according to a report.
