Police Blotter: Stolen Guns, SUV

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of two handguns from a home in the 700 block of Berkshire. Detectives have a suspect in the case and have discovered she is under investigation by another police agency for a similar crime. The suspect was a home health care provider who abruptly quit in December after which the homeowner discovered both guns to be missing, according to a report. 

SUV Stolen

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee stolen from the backyard of a home in the 600 block of Pemberton Jan. 19. The theft happened about 8 p.m., according to a report, and within minutes police received a report related to an SUV driving into Windmill Pointe Park at a high rate of speed. The stolen SUV was driven into the parking lot and through the fence to Alter Road, according to another report.

Broken Window Damage Reported

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating two property damage reports. 

In the first case, on Jan. 15 a man was spotted throwing a rock through a kitchen window in the 900 block of Barrington Road. The man did not enter the home, according to the report. 

In the second case, the rear window of a 2002 GMC Savana was broken out while parked in the street in the 1300 block of Balfour. The damage happened between 5 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 18, according to a report.

Not only are the staff NOT friendly, but they don't even know their own stock...or much about everyday hardware needs :(
