Police Blotter: Teens Arrested After Chase

Grosse Pointe Park police investigate a variety of crimes.

Two teenagers who ran from Grosse Pointe Park police March 19 were arrested in the basement of a Detroit home. A 16-year-old was speeding and drove through a red light at Mack Avenue and Wayburn Street, refusing to stop for officers, and during the pursuit tried to ram police vehicles. Officers used stop sticks to stop the vehicle and the driver and his 17-year-old passenger ran from the car into the basement of a Detroit home, where they were arrested, according to police. A 16-year-old Clinton Township boy was taken to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center downtown and 17-year-old Demerius Mario Hollis of Detroit pleaded guilty to four charges at his arraignment, including felonious assault to a police officer, resisting and fleeing and eluding. Hollis is serving a 30-day jail sentence imposed by Park Judge Carl F. Jarboe. 

Four Arrests

Park police arrested two people on outstanding felony warrants while investigating other crimes. In the first case, officers arrested a 38-year-old Kentucky woman March 14 at Jefferson and Devonshire roads for a felony fraud warrant out of Sandusky, MI. In the second case, a 23-year-old Detroit man causing a disturbance in the street near Vernor and Wayburn streets March 18 was found to have a felony warrant out of Detroit. Officers turned the man over to Detroit police, according to reports.

Park police arrested a 21-year-old Detroit man after he drove through a red light at Mack Avenue and Whittier Street March 18. When he was stopped at Charlevoix and Yorkshire, officers found marijuana in his car and he was incoherent, according to a report. The man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs. 

In an unrelated case, officers are investigating the source of alcohol for a 16-year-old Park boy who arrived home March 17 intoxicated. He was taken to a youth community service/drug-screening center, according to police.

Vehicle, Parts Stolen

Park police are investigating the theft of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer taken from a driveway in the 1300 block of Devonshire Road March 21. Officers found glass on the driveway, according to report. 

In another case, officers are investigating the theft of the catalytic converter from a Jeep Cherokee parked in the 16000 block of Mack Avenue March 19, according to reports.
