The following information is gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police arrested an 18-year-old Harper Woods man about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 9 after he was spotted running away from a home in the 1500 block of Aline Drive where a car stereo was reported stolen. The man is charged with larceny from a vehicle. He was arrested after the owner of the car discovered his missing radio about 15 minutes after hearing a car door shut outside of his house. He did not think much of it until discovering the radio was gone and then saw two men dressed in dark clothing at a nearby corner. He approached them in his vehicle and they ran. He called police, who used the City of Grosse Pointe's K9 unit, Raleigh, to perform a search. During Raleigh's search, officers found several pieces of black clothing, including a black ski mask, believed to have been ditched by the two men during their run. They also recovered a steak knife believed to be used and the track led to the men, who police had in custody. They recovered the stolen radio in the arrested man's vehicle, according to a police report.

Dog Attack Reported

A 38-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman reported a dog attack to police Oct. 8 shortly after 10 p.m. The woman heard screaming outside of her house in the 1300 block of Anita Avenue, went outside and saw her neighbor's dog attack a smaller dog on the sidewalk. The dog that was attacked left the scene with its owner after the attacking dog's owner retrieved her dog. The neighbor reported the attack because she said the neighbor's dogs have been a problem in the past and that one chased her daughter once. The neighbor's dog bit the smaller passerby dog. Officers tried to make contact with the attacking dog's owner, but no one would answer the door and the owner of the dog that was attacked called police after arriving home. She told officers she wanted them to be aware of the situation but that she did not want to see police, according to a report.
