Police Blotter: Thefts, Arrest and Appliance Fire

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating a variety of crimes.

Police are investigating the theft of lawn equipment from a garage in the 1200 block of Wayburn Road March 25. Pry marks were found where a burglar broke into the garage and the overhead door of the garage was then opened to steal the items, according to police. 

In an unrelated theft, police are investigating an identified suspect for stealing $150 cash and a debit card from a purse in the 1100 block of Lakepointe Street, according to a report.

A 35-year-old woman stopped for a traffic offense at Mack Avenue and Buckingham Road March 24 was arrested by Detroit police on a warrant for aggravated assault. Park officers called Detroit officers to the scene of the traffic stop after discovering the warrant, according to reports.

Officers issued a citation to a 19-year-old Farms woman cleaning out her car in the 1000 block of Wayburn Road March 20 for littering. The woman was putting the garbage on the ground and the officer required her to clean up the trash and issued the citation, according to a report.

Fire doused by resident

Park firefighters helped a resident in the 900 block of Balfour Street disconnect the gas and electricity lines from an appliance responsible for a fire March 27. Crews were called to the house about 12:20 p.m. but the resident had already put the fire out. The cause was determined to be a broken part of the appliance, according to a report.
