Police Blotter: Thefts at 2 Private Clubs

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety from the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police are investigating the theft of four flag poles and 9 red and green flags from the 's golf course. The maintenance manager reported the theft after discovering it early May 4. This type of theft has happened in the past but never to this extent. The poles and flags are valued at about $500, according to a report.

The general manager of the filed a report with the Grosse Pointe Woods police as well regarding the theft of three swimming pool blocks from a storage area. The theft is believed to have happened between April 20 to May 3. Employees are checking security videos to see if they can find anything, according to a report.

Possible Drugging by Fellow Bar Customer Reported

A woman reported to Grosse Pointe Woods that she believes her drink at a local bar and restaurant was drugged by another customer May 3. The woman told officers she and a friend were at the bar from 7:30 to about 11 p.m., during which time a man also at the bar talked with the whole time. He was aggressive and was asking the woman's friend out and flirting with her. At one point, the women left the bar so one could use the restroom and when they returned the man had paid for them to have fresh drinks. Both took one sip and then decided not to finish it since the man bought them. A short time later the woman told police she became violently ill and they left. The man paid his bill and left the bar at the same time. She was ill all night and her friend passed out in her bedroom but both had only consumed one full drink plus the sip from the other one. The woman said her family took her to an area hospital where blood tests were completed but inconclusive about whether her drink was drugged, according to a report.

Cell Phone Stolen in Class

A junior from reported that her cell phone was stolen from her desk while in class May 9. The 17-year-old student reported the theft after arriving home from school that day. She told officers she asked other students whether they saw anything happen to her phone, which was on her desktop briefly while she walked around the room. She provided police with a suspect who had previously taken her phone, handed off to another student, who then returned it to her, according to a report.

Vehicle Theft Attempted, Owner Interrupts Would-be Thief

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating the attempted theft of a vehicle from the 500 block of Hampton Road. The owner heard his car alarm sound, went outside to check on it and saw a man dressed all in black running away shortly after 1 a.m., according to a report.
