Police Blotter: Traffic Stop Ends in Marijuana Possession Arrest

The following information is gathered from the Public Safety Departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police arrested a 29-year-old St. Clair Shores woman Nov. 23 after she was stopped for speeding in the 700 block of Berkshire.

When an officer approached the woman's car, it was discovered that the woman was driving on a suspended license. During her arrest on the suspended license offense, officers discovered she had marijuana "on her person." She was charged with violation of the controlled substance act for possessing marijuana, according to a report.

Thefts from Vehicles

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating several thefts from vehicles—a problem that has been plaguing the city for several weeks. Vehicles in the following blocks were hit this week and various items were stolen:

  • 1300 Bishop Road, Nov. 20 to 21
  • 1300 Nottingham, Nov. 22 to 23
  • 1300 Balfour, Nov. 27

An iPod, loose change and $250 cash were stolen from two the vehicles, which were unlocked. The passenger side mirror was stolen from the third car, which did not sustain any other damage, according to reports.

Vehicle Theft Attempted

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the attempted theft of a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The car was parked in the 1400 block of Balfour Nov. 20 and its owner discovered damage to the driver's side door lock and to the ignition about noon Nov. 21, according to a report.

Door of Vacant Home Damaged

Damage to the front door of a home in the 1100 block of Buckingham was reported to Grosse Pointe Park police. The damage was discovered Nov. 23 to a rear door but it did not appear the person responsible for the damage entered the home, which is vacant. The damage was done between Nov. 9 to Nov. 23, according to a report.
