Police Blotter: Trespasser Arrested, Charged

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

A trustee of a Grosse Pointe Shores home reported several tools stolen early March 2 after he went to the home and found them missing. He had last been at the home Feb. 24 and the tools were there. The house belongs to the man's father, who passed away. The tools were stolen from a corner of the basement and there was no evidence of forced entry. Several people have keys to the house but only the son had been there since December. The tools stolen include: hammer, pliers, pipe wrenches, electric sander and drill, grinder/sharpener, drill bits and die making tools with box, according to a report.

Trespassing Charged in Suspicious Circumstances

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 23-year-old Fraser man for loitering and providing false information Feb. 26 after he was found in the back yard of a home on Roslyn. A resident called police to the 1700 block of Roslyn Road about 1:45 p.m. reporting that a suspicious man walking up and down the street repeatedly. Responding officers found the man in the backyard of a home and when they questioned him, he said he was waiting for his aunt who lived there. The name he provided does not exist in Woods property records. The homeowner also arrived home during the interaction and told police he did not recognize the man and had never seen him before. The man also reported that he was staying with a friend in St. Clair Shores but could not provide addresses for either the house where he was staying or the house he was identifying as his aunt's. He was arrested and charged. During his arrest, officers discovered his real identify after fingerprinting him. Later he was taken to an area hospital after threatening to kill himself, banging his head against the cell wall and cutting his hands and wrists using grout from the ceiling of the cell, according to a report.
