Police Blotter: Vandalism, Arrests and Stolen Car

Police throughout the Pointes are investigating a variety of crimes.

Vandals spray-painted  and . The vandalism was discovered early Wednesday and most had been removed by Wednesday late afternoon. Woods Public Safety Director Andrew Pazuchowski said at least three signs and a fire hydrant were spray-painted between 6 p.m. March 29 and 8 a.m. March 30 at and around Parcells. The vandalism included profanities and the "blood kings," Pazuchowski said, noting police do not believe there is any gang affiliation to the vandalism. He said it's more likely kids with too much time on their hands, and detectives are investigating the vandalism reported at Parcells. A police report was not filed for Mason but a janitor cleaned a great deal of the spray-paint off the playground equipment, district spokeswoman Rebecca Fannon said. At Parcells, there are several signs warning of video surveillance outside the building. Pazuchowski said detectives are trying to determine whether any of the crimes were caught on tape. At Mason, much of the playground equipment was spray-painted in black. A crown remained on the school's otherwise colorful merry-go-round, the word "king" had already been removed from a plastic half-bubble but the word remained etched in the plastic, and an x was painted on a pretend police vehicle. Other areas were spray-painted with spots and general covering.

Vehicle stolen

A 53-year-old Detroit woman reported early Wednesday that her car was stolen from behind a dental office in the 17700 block of Mack Avenue. The woman parked about 8 a.m. and returned at 9:45 a.m. to discover her car no longer there. Meanwhile, a patrol officer had attempted to pull a vehicle matching the description over after the young driver sped around a nearby corner. The officer lost the vehicle and about an hour later the woman called police, according to reports. The vehicle is a red, four-door, 2002 Dodge Intrepid.

Mail stopped following dog argument

The U.S. Postal Service stopped delivery of mail to a home in the 900 block of Sunningdale March 26 after the carrier and resident argued about a dog. The carrier said she had to use her foot to keep the dog away from her and she was in fear when it approached her as she tried to deliver mail. The resident called police after an argument with the carrier explaining there is an electric fence and her dog is harmless. Officers said the postal service won't resume delivery until the dog issue is resolved. The resident told officers she would try to have the dog inside at delivery time if the carrier could give her a time frame. The carrier said it's impossible to tell the resident a time because different carriers deliver each route in their own pattern, making it impossible to guarantee a daily time, according to police reports.
