Police Blotter: Vehicle Accessory Thefts in Grosse Pointe Park

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety from the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Office reported two incidents of theft of tires and rims from vehicles in the past week.

On Nov. 14 at about 11:30 p.m., a 2008 Cadillac Escalade that was parked behind a home in the 1000 block of Bishop was found with all four tires and rims removed from the vehicle, according to a report.

Police also report that on Nov. 14 at about 4:00 a.m., a 2009 GMC Yukon parked in the driveway in the 1100 block of Bishop was found with all four tires and wheels missing.  

A black iPad was stolen from a 2006 Honda parked in driveway in the 1300 block of Kensington.  The car's owner went inside for 15 minutes at approximately 11:30 a.m. and returned to find the window of his car smashed and the iPod gone, according to a report.

Armed Robbery

A Detroit man, 24, has been charged with armed robbery after he demanded a ride from another man leaving a bar and then robbed him at gunpoint in the 1300 block of Wayburn at 2:38 a.m. on Nov. 15.  The man ran from the area but was later arrested by the Wayne County Police Department, according to a report.

Home Invasion

A resident in the 1200 block of Wayburn reported that a Magnavox TV and a turquoise bed comforter was stolen from their home sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 16. It's believed that entry was gained through a front window of the home. The TV taken from the dining room area and the comforter from a front bedroom, according to a report.

They use them as a make-shift bag to carry their ill-gotten gains. Wayne County Police Department? Sheriff's Department?
