Police Investigate Alcohol Theft, Loitering in the Dugout and Car Window Smashed Out

The following information was gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Car window smashed out 

A Grosse Pointe Shores police responded to the 100 block of Hampton for a report Oct. 7 of a window broken out. When officers arrived, they found pry marks around the broken window, glass fragments on the driveway and a copper pole on the driveway. The vehicle owner reported a radar detector and sunglasses were stolen.

Employees of the Kroger on Mack in Grosse Pointe Woods reported Oct. 6 that they saw a man running toward the entrance door from the produce area with a basket full of merchandise, which they believe was full of wine and alcohol. The man, described as 20- to 25-years-old with short blond hair, entered a Ford Taurus with a dent in the rear passenger side door. The getaway car was driven by woman, described as 20- to  25-years-old, with shaggy light colored hair that was pulled back and wearing a light colored zip-up top.

Grosse Pointe Farms police responded Oct. 4 to call of a person sleeping in a dugout behind the Grosse Pointe Library. Police found a 15-year-old boy from Grosse Pointe Park in the dugout, noticed an "odor of marijuana" coming from the subject, according to a report. When asked why he was sleeping in the dugout, he said he was called out of school and didn't feel like walking home. Officers found marijuana in his pocket. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and was turned over to his mother.
