Possible Hoarding Case Under Investigation

The following information is gathered by the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The Grosse Pointe Woods Building Department will be following up on a home that is potentially a public safety hazard after police responded to a call for help from the resident. An 83-year-old woman called police to her home on Saddle Lane April 15 after she had fallen. She needed help getting up. While officers were in the house, they noticed signs of hoarding including dirty surfaces, magazines, paper, unopened food items and other household items littering walkways and concealing furniture. The woman was helped to her feet and refused medical treatment and transport to the hospital. Due to the potential danger the house poses to the resident and to public safety responders, the case was forwarded to the building department for further investigation, according to a report.

Kindergartner Finds Bullet Near School Door

A Mason kindergartner found a bullet on school grounds early Thursday, according to a report filed with Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Safety. The student found the bullet on the ground near a bush at the east entrance into the building. The child then took it to a school employee to ask what it was. The employee took the bullet and called police. The youth detective interviewed school officials and the employee described the child as curious explaining he is always picking things up and asking what they are. The detective was trying to determine whether the kindergartner brought the bullet to the school. The teachers were informed of what the detective discovered, according to the report.
