The following information is gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Three residents recovered a stolen bicycle shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday when they followed the man who stole it from a garage in the 700 block of Loraine.

The bicycle's owner saw the theft and her 37-year-old husband, along with two neighbors, followed the would-be thief in his car, according to police and an area resident.

When confronted, the 18-year-old Detroit man returned the stolen bicycle to the men and then ran away. The residents gave police, who had already been called, a description of the man and his direction of travel.
