Shots Fired on Lancaster Ends in 3 Arrests

Several areas schools were put on lockdown Thursday in Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods when police responded to a complaint of shots fired from a home in the 19900 block of Lancaster in Harper Woods. 

According to a community alert issued by Harper Woods Police Chief Jim Burke Thursday night: 

Harper Woods police were called to a home near Lancaster and Peerless Thursday afternoon for shots fired. When they arrived, they found a home in the 19900 block of Lancaster believed to be the problem area. 

Officers from Haprer Woods and the Grosse Pointes set up a perimeter while Harper Wooods officers tried make contact with the people inside the home. When they coulc not make contact, the Eastern Wayne Special Response Team responded.

The men inside the home came out after the SWAT team arrived, according to the community alert. This followed hours worth of what officers were calling a barricaded gunman 

Several schools--Harper Woods and Grosse Pointe--were placed on lockdown as a precaution as a result of the ongoing situation, according to the community alert.  

Three adult men surrendered to police after the SWAT team made contact with them and all three are being held without bond in Harper Woods. The investigation into the shots fired and what transpired afterward continues.
