This Week in Grosse Pointe: Jan. 30

A few of the happenings in the Grosse Pointes scheduled for this week.

Here are a few of the events scheduled for this week in the Grosse Pointes:

1. Today is the last day to register to vote in order to be allowed to do so in the Feb. 28 presidential primary race. One local issue is slated to be on the ballot as well--. Registration may be completed at either the appropriate city clerk's office or with any Michigan Secretary of State office.

2. The finance committee will meet tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. The most significant item on the agenda relates to to help increase the budget. The committee will discuss the potential uses for the money, including road improvements and capital equipment. They will also discuss cost containment efforts.

3. The annual Winterfest on The Hill in is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Kercheval Avenue is closed to motorists for the event, which includes a chili cookoff, children's activities and ice sculptures.

4. 's 2012 Chilly-Fest is also scheduled for Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. at Patterson and Windmill Pointe Parks featuring a variety of outdoor and indoor activities, including ice skating, snowman building, snowboarding demonstration and more.
