U.S. Border Patrol Arrests 2 Men In Grosse Pointe Shores

Grosse Pointe Shores police turned over two Detroit men to U.S. Border Patrol March 30 after stopping them in the 1100 block of Lake Shore Road. The men were looking for a house in the 700 block of Lake Shore to do some painting work and provided the officer with international identification. The men admitted they did not have citizenship, which is when Border Patrol was contacted, according to a report.

Drunk Drivers Arrested

Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 43-year-old Kettering, Ohio, woman and a 71-year-old Highland Park man April 3 near Lake Shore Road and Woodland Shores Drive for alcohol offenses. An officer stopped a car that pulled out of a driveway without headlights on at 12:40 a.m. The car was weaving in and out of its lane as well. The man was driving and smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent on an initial breathalyzer. The man refused to take the formal test and had to be taken to an area hospital for a blood draw. The man said he had been with a woman, who police found a short time later in the 500 block of Lake Shore urinating on the porch. She was intoxicated and had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent. She was charged with transporting an open container, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 30-year-old Allen Park woman March 30 for drunk driving. The woman was reported by another motorist as a possible drunk driver. Upon further investigation, officers stopped her and discovered she smelled of alcohol. She refused to take a breath test. She was arrested and taken to a local hospital for a blood sample, according to a report.

Resident Ordered to Clean Yard

Grosse Pointe Shores police warned a 69-year-old  resident of a violation of the city's blight ordinance after receiving a complaint about trash in the yard. The responding officer took pictures of scattered junk spread throughout the yard of a home on Hampton Road, including a large piece of wood with old rusted nails sticking out. The man agreed to clean up the yard. The case was given to the shift supervisor for follow-up, according to a report.
