Vehicle Crash Preceded Condominium Crash on Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods

The following information is gathered from the Departments of Public Safety of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The driver who was responsible for crashing into a Vernier Road condominium Thursday afternoon was issued a citation for failing to yield right of way, according to a report released Friday by Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety.
The woman was driving on Sunningdale a few minutes before noon with plans to drive onto Vernier. She told police she stopped and thought traffic as clear for her to turn onto Vernier and then she struck another motorist, according to a report. 
The other driver told police the first driver did not stop at the stop sign and just drove onto Vernier, striking her. 
Following that collision, the driver from Sunningdale tried to stop buy accelerated instead into the condominium.
Both drivers were taken to an area hospital. A passenger in one of the vehicle declined medical attention but complained of pain in his hip and back.
The woman issued the citation is to appear in court July 17, according to a report.
