August Primary: Wayne County Elections Guide

Several key positions in Wayne County are up for election this year. The first vote is Aug. 7 for primaries. The vote on the final candidates is Nov. 6.

The terms of several Wayne County elected officials will expire this year and in early August voters will be asked to narrow the field in the primary election.

The last day to register to vote in the August primary is July 9. Voters will return to the polls in November to make the final vote. 

Below are the positions up for election and the candidates who are seeking office:

Prosecuting Attorney:

  • Angelo S. Brown, of Detroit
  • David W. Jones, of Detroit
  • Kym L. Worthy, of Detroit (currently holds the office)

Sheriff:

  • Shelly L. Milton, of Belleville
  • Taras P. Nykoriak, of Hamtramck
  • Benny J. Napoleon, of Detroit (currently holds the office)
  • Mike Thomas, of Detroit
  • Mohamad Hammoud, of Dearborn

Clerk:

  • Adam Salam Adamski, of Inkster
  • Werner J. Klein, of Dearborn
  • Cathy M. Garrett, of Detroit (currently holds office)
  • Gail Barnard, of Detroit

Treasurer:

  • Beverly Kindle-Walker, of Detroit
  • Calvin Harris, of Detroit
  • Dana A. Harris, of Detroit
  • Devon Lamar Twiley, of Detroit
  • Lillie Skinner, of Detroit
  • Phil Cavanaugh, of Redford
  • Raymond J. Wojtowicz, of Hamtramck (currently holds office)
  • Robert Robinson, of Detroit
  • Taissa Williams, of Detroit

Register of Deeds:

  • Tupac A. Hunter, of Detroit
  • Bernard J. Youngblood, of Grosse Pointe Farms (currently holds office)
  • Willie E. Burton, of Detroit

I absolutely LOVE our local, in-the-park hardware store!! They have what I need, and their friendlyRead More staff know where to find what I need! I really can't stand the "new" Village Ace Hardware. Not only are the staff NOT friendly, but they don't even know their own stock...or much about everyday hardware needs :(

LA Fitness has plans to occupy the old Dress Barn and Blockbuster storefronts.
