residents will pay more for swimming, tennis and other summer programs starting in 2012.
As the Woods looks for ways to generate revenue to make up for declining income connected to falling property values city officials have decided to bring their parks programs in line fee-wise with the other Pointes.
On Monday, the council approved the increase in fees for next year.
A review of fees for summer park programs among the five Pointes revealed that Grosse Pointe Woods was charging substantially less than most other programs locally.
The most substantial source of new revenue will be swim lessons, which will increase from $40 to $52 and generate $9,407.
Tennis lessons will generate the second highest amount of new revenue at $3,180 when fees go from $40 to $52.
Other fee increases include:
- swim team in the Woods will increase from $65 to $75, netting about $1,910 in revenue.
- synchronized swimming will increase from $45 to $55, bringing in an additional $340.
- water aerobics will go from $36 to $39 for a new revenue of $264.
The Woods' higher feest bring it in line with other Pointes.
