Grosse Pointe Farms Hosts Hazardous Waste Drop-Off

Hazardous materials will be accepted at Pier Park from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Residents of four Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods may drop off hazardous material from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Saturday. The event is being hosted by . 

The event is open to residents of the City, the Farms, the Park, the Shores and Harper Woods. Residents must have identification to show residency before being allowed to drop-off materials.

Below is a list of acceptable materials. Those that are not acceptable are materials that cannot be identified, explosives, radioactive material, chemical lab material, household batteries and commercially generated waste.

Acceptable items include:

  • glue
  • wood preservatives
  • oil-based paint
  • varnish
  • fungicides/herbicides/insecticides/weed killer/rat poison
  • brake/transmission fluid
  • antifreeze/coolants
  • battery acid
  • fuel oil/gasoline
  • petroleum solvents
  • propane gas tanks
  • oven/drain cleaner
  • bleaches/disinfectants
  • expired medicines
  • fluorescent lamps
  • furniture/metal polishes
  • floor care products
  • nail polish
  • epoxy/solvents
  • photographic chemicals
  • mercury thermometers
