Grosse Pointe Shores Celebrates 100 Years

A plethora of events are scheduled throughout the weekend to honor and celebrate the city's 100 years of existence. Here is a schedule of the events.

The Grosse Pointe Shores Centennial celebrations begin tonight with a private reception at the where the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will play during a fireworks display. 

A cocktail reception begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is sold out.

3 to 5 p.m. Saturday

  • Schroeder Field House dedication
  • History display about the Shores
  • Decorating of bikes, buggies and wagons for Sunday's parade
  • Free ice cream sundaes 
  • Live entertainment

12 to 1 p.m. Sunday

  • Parade from Edsel and Eleanor Ford House to

1 to 4 p.m. Sunday--Centennial Celebration Birthday Party 

  • singing of the National Anthem and Happy Birthday

  • On Display: Vintage Cars, 2011 Time Capsule, New Boat Exhibition, Shores History

2 to 4 p.m. Sunday--Centennial Splash Party
