North Science Teacher Recognized by Wayne County Commissioner for MI Teacher of the Year Award

Grosse Pointe North High School teacher Gary Abud was named Michigan's Teacher of the Year in late May. He has been recognized by many local elected officials, including most recently, Wayne County Commissioner Tim Killeen.

Wayne County Commissioner Tim Killeen presented a resolution Thursday before the commission regarding Grosse Pointe North High School teacher Gary Abud, recognizing his recent designation as Michigan's Teacher of the Year.
Killeen, who represents the five Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods, spoke about Abud's achievement.
In a press release, Killeen highlighted how the community should be proud of the achievement, which "speaks to the excellence that is Grosse Pointe Schools."
Abud has been recognized by the Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores councils as well. Signs are being made to post at the entrances of Grosse Pointe Woods, announcing the city as the home of Michigan's 2013 Teacher of the Year.
Abud teaches science at North High School, has become active in networking with not only local co-workers but also educators beyond the four walls of his school and has incorporated technology into his classroom.
