Photo Gallery: Grosse Pointe Shores Parade for 100th Birthday

Dozens of residents gathered along Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores Sunday afternoon for the parade that kicked off the official 100th birthday party for the city.

Celebrations continued Sunday by residents and officials during the official birthday party at . The day began with a parade along Lake Shore Road from the to the park. 

In addition to live music from a bagpiper band and the Marching Band, the parade includes many local celebrities, such as the chef and . 

Several elected officials including Grosse Pointe Shores councilmen Ted Kedzierski, Dan Schulte, Brian Geraghty, David Galbenski, State Representative Tim Bledsoe and U.S. Representative Hansen Clarke were in the parade. Clarke walked next to a car that he was suppose to be riding in to shake hands with those watching and introduce himself.

Shores Mayor James Cooper also walked next to the parade waving and thanking people for attending. 

The event concluded with a birthday cake float blasting Happy Birthday. from Detroit's Gold Cup races.

On Saturday the city held an and on Friday, Shores residents were invited to attend a private reception at the over Lake St. Clair.
