The remaining three candidates were asked a set of pre-determined questions during interviews in the city's council chambers. The interviews were about 40 minutes long and led to one candidate standing out a bit more than the others, Vick said.

Afterward, Vick asked those that sat in if they agreed with the person he believed to be the front runner, which they did. He intends to make an offer and begin the negotiation process soon, he said.

Since the holidays fall amidst the process, Vick said the negotiations might be slow going right now but he anticipates being able to make an announcement about the person selected by the Shores regularly scheduled council meeting.

The meeting is Jan. 17, although Vick said if he has an update by the date of the special meeting the council agreed to have in an unrelated matter, he would present it then.
