Shores Police to Get 2 New Patrol Cars

One car will be paid for by donations and the other will be purchased by the city.

For the second month in a row, Grosse Pointe Shores Public Safety Director Stephen Poloni told council a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria will be donated to the department.

In January, Poloni announced the donation of a new car by a Shores family who wished to remain anonymous. The family, Poloni said then, has historically been supportive to the Shores and wanted to help.

Now, two more families who also wish to remain anonymous, teamed up to split the cost of another squad car for the department. Each family donated $11,000 to cover the total cost of $22,000, Poloni said.

Additionally, the Shores council unanimously approved the purchase of a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria for the police department.

This brings the total of new cars to three for the police department. The new cars will be ordered in the next few weeks and arrive at the department within a few months, Poloni said.
