This Week in Grosse Pointe: July 23

Among the highlights this week are the meeting of the Grosse Pointe Public School Board, and the Farms and the Park councils. Additionally, Bob Bashara will have his preliminary exam in 36th District Court and the annual Village Sidewalk Sale is scheduled

Among the many events scheduled this week in the Grosse Pointes, here are some of the highlights:

1. The Board will meet beginning at 6 p.m. Monday at for a work session. Then at 7 p.m. the board is to begin its monthly meeting. According to the agenda, the board will discuss:

  • the recall of several teachers
  • the school breakfast program
  • tuition rates for 2012/13 school year
  • the superintendent's evaluation and compensation
  • the contract for food services
  • Parcells Middle School pool ramp and waterproofing

The board will also receive information on the following items but not vote upon them until the August meeting:

  • third party administration health care

2. The City Council will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the counicil will discuss:

  • an appeal related to a fence permit denial
  • the

  • appointment of a city clerk

4. in 36th District Court, during which the judge will decide whether the prosecutor's office has enough evidence to continue pursuing the . Bashara is being .

5. The will host its annual sidewalk sale event Friday and Saturday, in which merchants will have merchandise outside on Kercheval Avenue. The street is closed down for the event and a vendor offering food and drink is set up among the merchandise.
