This Week in Grosse Pointe: July 30

Special meetings are scheduled for both the Grosse Pointe Public School Board as well as the Grosse Pointe Shores city council this week. The Ford House will also host its second Fairy Tale Festival Saturday.

Here are the highlights of the many events scheduled this week in the Grosse Pointes:

1.The Board will meet Friday beginning at 8 a.m. at the administration building on St. Clair Street. The district administration will introduce several candidates for key positions to the board for their consideration, including for Kerby prinicpal, South band director and the South choir director.

2. The council is scheduled to have a special meeting Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m. An agenda was not yet posted on the city's website to include information about what will be discussed.

3. morning. After a following a several hour preliminary exam, he will appear in Third Circuit Court for an initial hearing.

4. The will be holding its second Fairy Tale Festival Saturday Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Advance purchase of tickets are $12; at the door $15. The Ford House website has a complete schedule and more information.

Good news that a candidate band director has been quickly selected. Parents and students should take this first opportunity to see the candidate and express their support. This is also an opportunity for all to share their expectations and set the bar high for the continued success of the South and Pierce band programs.
