This Week in Grosse Pointe: March 18

Grosse Pointe Public School teachers will vote today on a proposed contract; City of Grosse Pointe council will discuss an agreement with Grosse Pointe Park for emergency dispatch services; Grosse Pointe Shores will swear in a new public safety officer.

Here are the highlights of the many events scheduled in the Grosse Pointes this week:

1. Grosse Pointe Public School teachers will vote today on a proposed four year contract that if passed will take effect March 25.

2. Grosse Pointe Woods city council will meet Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss:

  • the purchase of a tractor
  • several contracts from Department of Public Services
  • the Technical, Professional and Officer Workers Association of Michigan (TPOAM) contract
  • the beautification advisory commission

3. Grosse Pointe Shores city council will meet Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss:

  • a new public safety officer being sworn in
  • a public hearing on the amendment to a sign ordinance
  • 2013 road rehabilitation
  • the ambassador committee

4. City of Grosse Pointe council will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss:

  • an agreement with Grosse Pointe Park for dispatch operations
  • the 2013/14 and 2014/15 fiscal year budgets

5. The Grosse Pointe Public School Board will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the board will discuss:

  • the first readings of several board policies that are being changed related to placement, promotion, performance evaluations, layoffs and dismissals of teachers
  • a review of the Head Start Program
  • minutes from one open session and one closed session from February
