This Week in Grosse Pointe: March 4

The Grosse Pointe Woods city council will meet; the Boards of Review for the Shores and the Park will have initial meetings; and the City's DDA will meet to discuss the annual budget.

Of the many events in the Grosse Pointes this week, here are a few highlights:

1. The Grosse Pointe Woods city council will meet Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss:

  • a request from Grosse Pointe North's environmental club, S.A.V.E., for a parade permit for a 5K race intended to benefit the Children's Hospital of Michigan
  • the 2013 Beautification Flower Sale
  • the Planning Commission's Annual report
  • a presentation by Bill Vogel of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club on the United States Optimist Dinghy Association National Championships

The council will meet as the Committee of the Whole beginning at 8 p.m. According to that agenda, they will discuss:

  • a proposed budget

2. Grosse Pointe Shores Board of Review will have an organizational meeting Monday beginning at 5 p.m.

3. The Downtown Development Authority will meet Monday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the City of Grosse Pointe. The annual budget will be discussed.

4. Grosse Pointe Park's Board of Review will meet Tuesday to begin reviewing assessments. The board is scheduled to hear arguments on particular cases March 12, 19 and 26.

5. Grosse Pointe Public juniors will be taking the Michigan Merit Examination this week, Tuesday and Wednesday.

6. Red Crown restaurant in Grosse Pointe Park is slated to open for dinner Wednesday
