There are several events scheduled this week in Grosse Pointe. Here are a few of the highlights:

1. The city council will meet beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday. According to the agenda, the council will discuss:

  • site plans for the Rivers of Grosse Pointe
  • an ice cream vendor permit
  • setting the public hearing on the 2012/13 fiscal year budget, which is outlined as May 21 at 7:30 p.m.
  • the contracting of print services
  • concrete repair program
  • the fee schedule related to the city clerk, city attorney and an administrative assistant

2. The Grosse Pointe Woods committee of the whole will meet following the council meeting Monday. It is scheduled for 8 p.m. but will begin after the council adjourns. According to the agenda, the committee will discuss:

  • road construction and bonding alternatives
  • ballot language
  • the headlee override
  • fiscal projections

3. An beginning at 7 p.m. for parents interested in finding out more about the half-day program.

4. The Family Center will be putting on its third screening of the Race To Nowhere Tuesday at Grosse Pointe South Auditorium. The screening will include the presence of several officials, incuding superintendnet Tom Harwood, school board members Brendan Walsh and Dan Roeske as well as South Principal Matt Outlaw.

5. The and will benefit Services for Older Citizens as well as the Special Olympics. Detroit Lions will be offering signatures to attendees.
