U.S. Senate: Durant Concedes to Hoekstra

Current U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will face Pete Hoekstra in the November election after voters narrowed the field Tuesday during the August primary.

Former U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra has won the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate primary race after his main rival, Clark Durant of Grosse Pointe, conceded Tuesday shortly before 11 p.m.

Shortly after midnight, the Secretary of State's office showed Hoekstra leading the way with more than 97,000 votes while Durant was trailing with almost 59,000. There are about 30 more counties whose results are not yet included in those figures as they have not reported final results to the Secretary of State's office.

The race began with four men seeking the Republican nomination:

Current U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, of Lansing, was the sole candidate seeking the Democratic nomination.

Durant's concession Tuesday means Hoekstra and Stabenow will face each other in the general election in November for the seat.

The results posted at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday show Hekman received just more than 15,000 votes and Glenn received the fewest so far with just less than 15,000 votes.

Durant's campaign released a statement about his concession, in which Durant urged voters to show their support in November for Hoekstra. Durant's release also highlights his belief that voters need to unite in order to change spending and other things happening in Washington.

Unions in Michigan are now canvassing citizens for signatures to give Unions extraordinary powers in the state related to collective bargaining and forced Union dues. Be very careful on what you sign.

Senator Stabenow is now telling seniors that she wants to save Medicare. Problem! She helped pass Obamacare under reconciliation and 51 votes in the Senate. Barack Obama took $416 Billion from Medicare with her approval and the end result by doing this is that it will go broke and force all seniors to guess what? ....Obamacare! Debbie...........you are a liar and a crook just like your boss!

So if Obama says that Romnyes plan is a loser, why did Barack Obama who says he stands with the auto worker and owned 33% of GM............let the Janesville work go to China?

There are people who see what is happening our great nation and do not like the direction we are going. We are already Socialist and with the help of the likes of Obama and Stabenow we will soon be Communist. It is the people who try to bully others into silence that makes it easy for them to take over isn’t that right Comrade Hoffman. Maybe you should listen and be open to others ideas you may learn something.
DDT September 4, 2012 at 02:05 pm
Heck, and I thought the US was already an oligarchy. How else can you explain the top 1% controlling 40% of the wealth in this country. Socialism? LOL!
Robert Harr September 4, 2012 at 02:25 pm
DDT you are correct in one since that we are government is controlled by a small group of people I.e. Special interest groups such as Planned Parenthood and the like. But I am not sure of your point about the top one % controlling 40% of the wealth that would be the definition of Capitalism which is part of a Democratic society. Oligarchy is just another name for Communism and has little to do with the distribution of wealth.
kidcat24 September 4, 2012 at 02:36 pm
We wouldn't have a middle class if it wasn't for the unions, and trickle down has never worked.
Bryce September 4, 2012 at 02:51 pm
History would belie that statement kidkat.
DDT September 4, 2012 at 03:21 pm
Planned Parenthood? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
The Koch brothers are worth about $50 Billion, collectively. And Planned Parenthood? What, a few million? You funny!
DJG September 4, 2012 at 03:25 pm
I care and I agree too.
DDT September 4, 2012 at 03:25 pm
Yeah, Bryce? Who fought for the middle-class?
Getty? Rockefeller? Carnegie? The Koch Brothers? George Peterson? The Waltons?

Liberals.........when will you wake up and realize that Obama is using you as his "Useful Idiots" to collapse the American system to usher in communism. When?

DDT September 4, 2012 at 03:44 pm
So, when 1% of the population controls 40% of its wealth, that's capitalism.
But that means we're in danger of socialism? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! LOL suckers!
Frank Lee September 4, 2012 at 03:45 pm
Yes, the 40 hr work week, health and safety, and the abolition of child labor were just gifts handed to the American worker from their benevolent employers. The entire labor movement and the results of organized working class political action are all imaginary history.
DDT September 4, 2012 at 03:53 pm
Do conservatives even THINK before they spout?
How will Obama morph this country into communism? What laws will he get that pesky Congress to pass in his evil plans to subvert the Constitution? Or, will he be able to convince 2/3rds of the state legislatures (themselves 2/3rds controlled by the GOP) to toss the Constitution? Perhaps he can convince the states to hold a constitutional convention for only the third time in this country's history? Perhaps the Supreme Court, with its majority GOP members will go along and toss out the Constitution and laws in favor of civil laws adopted by the United Nations. What horse did you fall from and hurt your head?

TaterSalad,
Can you please cut down on the spammy posts? If you'd like to legitimately debate a topic, we're willing to provide a forum for that, but if you're simply copying and pasting talking points and links, that does nothing to add to the conversation.

You always hear about Governor Romney and Bain Capital. Therefore, Obama's team try to make this an issue in the election. Why don't we ever hear how many millions Obam has spent to cover up his past and keep it sealed from the Freedom of Information Act? What has he got to hide before becoming President. I believe if you read his book before becoming President "Dreams FROM My Father" not of my father and see the movie 1016 you'll know.

It's worse John, TaterSpam is posting duplicate, non-germane posts on different threads.
Potato With an E September 4, 2012 at 04:55 pm
Bain is fair game, Willard uses Bain to claim his experience there boosts his credentials to be president. Since all his income came from Bain, he should also release his tax returns, like his father did when George ran for president.
As for Obama's past, I did not know that the freedom of information act applied to anything except the government. Go ahead, send a request for information to Harvard Law School and Columbia. Both are private schools.

This not a spammy post, is not a duplicate post and actually gives some insight on what liberal media will not report to the people. How come Patch hasn't done this before or are they whimps or biased?
