West Park Farmers Market Opens Today

The 2011 season kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday on Kercheval Avenue in Grosse Pointe Park's business district.

The West Park Farmers Market opens Saturday for its eighth season featuring area vendors with food, gifts and crafts. The market opens at 9 a.m. and typically operates until 1 p.m. 

Featuring 20 to 30 vendors on any given Saturday, the market offers locally grown and produced foods such as tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and flowers. 

Off street parking is available in a public lot within the business district.

Special events are planned throughout the season, which runs through September, and the market remains open until 3 p.m. on those days. The first event this season is June 11 when there will be an open-street art fair.
