Woods Planning Commission to Fill Vacancy

The Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission is accepting applications to fill a vacancy created by a member who resigned from the oversight committee that deals with business development, planning and ordinance related matters.

The city clerk will accept applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission through Feb. 29.

The Planning Commission is a voluntary board that serves as an oversight committee on the city's planning and development. They address ordinance concerns, permit requests that are not approved by the city's building inspector, ordinance variances and more.

With nine members and one council representative, the planning commission meets once a month for a public meeting at the Woods municipal building.

Residents who want to serve on the commission are asked to complete a biographical sketch, which is a form on the city's website, and a statement of interest, all of which should be submitted to the city clerk by Feb. 29.

The Grosse Pointe Woods city council accepted the resignation of resident Robert Naderhood in December and is now seeking to fill his seat on the commission. Naderhood resigned due to travel required for his work.

All of the commissioners are appointed by the mayor with the agreement of the council and serve three year terms, which are staggered so the entire commission does not have complete turnover.
