Assumption Summer Campers Create News Clips, See Wildlife Up Close

Summer camp has come to life at Assumption Nursery School with assemblies featuring live animals and filming of newscasts.

Children attending the youth camp at Assumption Nursery School this summer are learning about technology and the wild.

Students taking part in the theater art camp, led by Harry Burkey, wrote their own newscasts which were then filmed and edited. Burkey then provided the students a DVD of their news clips, according to Melissa Sharp, Assumption Nursery School Director.

Students also took field trips to the Grosse Pointe Woods Lake Front Park and the Michigan Science Center. The outdoors also came indoors at the school with visits from Donny’s Zoo to You from Lou’s Pet Shop and the Huron-Clinton Metropark’s Fond of Ponds.

Other programs for the remainder of the programs include clinics from the Detroit Institute of Arts and a visit from Arts & Scraps, volleyball camps and field trips.
