Candidates for Kerby Principal, South Band on Horizon

The Grosse Pointe Public Schools administration expects to narrow the field of candidates in both the Kerby principal and the South band director searches this week and are likely to present a final candidate to the school board next week.

The Board expects to call a special meeting next week for the consideration of two candidates--one for the and one for .

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Jon Dean gave the board an update related to the many searches that are happening district-wide Monday and requested the board have a special meeting for two positions so as to bring them on board in time for the new school year.

Superintendent Tom Harwood is slated to meet with the finalists for the principal position on Thursday, Dean said. He anticipates a final decision to be made yet this week and the presentation of a candidate for the board's consideration by next week.

Meanwhile, an offer contingent upon the approval of the school board has been extended to and accepted by a candidate in the search for a / Band Director, Dean said. That candidate will also be included on the special meeting agenda, he said.
