Foundation Donates $110K to Grosse Pointe Schools

The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education recently gifted more than $110,000 in educational grants to the Grosse Pointe Public School district.

Much of $110,334.82 donated to the Grosse Pointe Public Schools by the Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education will be used to purchase technology for a variety of classrooms and programs throughout the district. 

The donations were announced recently before the Grosse Pointe Public School Board by the Foundation's Vice President Christie Scoggin. Each gift was given based on an application submitted by a teacher or administrator on behalf of a specific project. 

The following is the breakdown of gifts:

  • Defer Elementary School--$17,077.60 for first, third and fourth grades
  • Kerby Elementary School--$7,957.85 for kindergarten to fifth grades, including laptops for fifth grade
  • Maire Elementary--$18,973.40 for projects in second, third and fourth grades
  • Mason Elementary School--$8,000 for kindergarten to fifth grades
  • Monteith Elementary School--$3,456 iPads for intervention and differentiation in kindergarten
  • North High School--$21,065 for freshman assist, multi-sensory environment and cloud mobility
  • North and South high schools--$500 to enable skype in the classrooms
  • Pierce Middle School--$15,839.97 for technology integration and cameras for broadcast journalism
  • South High School--$9,848 for a digital design program for art
  • Districtwide--$7,617 for FAST reading books, iPad2 for special education

The donations received unanimous approval from the school board.
