Grosse Pointe Academy Names Athletes of the Season

Grosse Pointe Academy students named Athletes of the Season which recognizes achievement in multiple areas.

Grosse Pointe Academy middle school students Hannah Lemanski, David Scupholm and Jyen-ai Jones were named Athletes of the Season for the fall of 2012 based on their athletic achievements, leadership abilities, academic performance and citizenship.

Seventh grader Hannah Lemanski, a three-year veteran on the cross country team, was co-captain and Most Valuable Runner. Her first place finish in the girls’ race during the GPA cross country invitational on October 11 contributed to the team coming in second place overall. Lemanski is on the high honor roll and citizenship and head of school lists.

Eighth grader David Scupholm was co-captain and Team Bulldog for the boys’ tennis team. A two-year veteran of the team, David played at #2 singles. Scupholm is on the high honor roll and citizenship and head of school lists.

Eighth grader Jyen-ai Jones is a two-year veteran of the varsity volleyball team and this year’s Most Valuable Player. She also received awards as best digger (with an all-time record of 76 digs over two seasons) and best passer, and was named Team Bulldog. Jones is on the high honor roll and citizenship and head of school lists.

The Grosse Pointe Academy is an award winning, independent, co-educational elementary school serving children of southeastern Michigan ages 2 ½ through the eighth grade. The Academy emphasizes academic excellence and encourages the development of strong values within a nurturing community.
