Grosse Pointe North Choir Shines at Competitions

Three members of the Grosse Pointe North Choir will take part in the All-State Honors Choir program.

The students from the have got something to sing about.

Three members of the choir— Hannah Kadrich, Claire Schreiber, and Ryan Waggoner—will take part in the All-State Honors Choir program at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival in Kalamazoo in May.

Kadrich, Schreiber, Waggoner, Marty Brown, Logan Hart, Magy Shenouda, Jeremy Harr, Robert Cobau and Katie Murray also participated in the state honors choir concert at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids on Jan. 21.

The journey to the state honors choir concert began with auditions in September and October as the nine students learned a combined total of 19 pieces.

District Solo and Ensemble Festival

In addition, 23 soloists and five ensembles from the Grosse Pointe North Choir sang at the District Solo and Ensemble Festival on Jan. 27-28 at Chippewa Valley High School.

Each student and choir prepared two songs and performed before a judge.

Scores for the 23 soloists include four superior ratings, 14 excellent ratings and five good ratings.

The ensembles received the following ratings:

  • Pointe Chorale: superior
  • Choraliers: superior
  • AcaFella: superior
  • CounterPointe: superior
  • Norsemen: excellent

Upcoming Event

Great Works Concert will take place Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in St. Clair Shores. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.
