Grosse Pointe School Board Honors Students

Several Grosse Pointe students received recognition Monday by the Grosse Pointe Public School Board for various honors they've earned.

The Board recognized several students Monday for their achievements, including advanced placement honors, journalism students and thespian festival winners. 

Each student was named and given a certificate of recognition. 

Numerous Grosse Pointe North seniors, who earned advanced placement honors during their junior year, were recognized.

The students who came to Monday's school board meeting were among a much larger group who earned such honors during last school year. Those who were seniors and now out of the district were not named during the ceremony. 

The board recognized advanced placement honors students from Grosse Pointe South High School last month. North's students included:

In addition, students who have been a part of Grosse Pointe South's journalism program were recognized for various awards they've earned in different competitions.

  • Margaret Fikany, Excellent in Review Writing
  • Alexander Knuth, Excellent in Sports Writing

The Tower also received sixth place in Best in Show and a Pacemaker Award from the Journalism Education Association

Students who received awards during the thespian festival were also recognized but none were present to accept the recognition certificates. A district employee said they were at a rehearsal for an upcoming festival.
