The remaining assistant principal, Joan Murphy, will serve as the interim principal for the remainder of the school year, according to the district's release. She is already listed on the district's website as the principal for South.

In the written statement, Superintendent C. Suzanne Klein said district officials should be modeling professional behavior to set high expectations for the students.

"The Grosse Pointe Board of Education and the district are strongly committed to behaviors that reflect professionalism in the classrooms and offices and on the computer network," Klein said in the written statement.

All students and staff members have agreements with the district to use technology properly and appropriately. The release does not detail whether Diver and Slone were using personal email accounts on school computers or whether the adult material was in their school email addresses.

"... violations ... related to personal emails with inappropriate adult images," is the most detail provided in the written release. Officials have also not explained what spurred the recent investigation.

Teachers and staff began asking questions about Diver of Grosse Pointe Education Association President Ranae Beyerlein about two weeks ago. They noticed he wasn't in his office or at the school as he normally is and was delayed in responding to messages.

Attempts to reach Diver and Slone are being made. Their bios and blog sites are being removed from the district's website now.

The website also has a letter that will be mailed to parents from Klein, in which she asks parents to help with the transition and emphasized the need to concentrate on the students during such times.

It also mentions Murphy's lengthy employment with the district and her "proven track record." Three former administrators will be acting as a support system to Murphy, according to the letter. They are not identified by name.

Diver has been with the district since 2001. His position as principal of Grosse Pointe South had a high rate of turnover before he joined the district.

Slone had previously served as the athletic director at the school.
