Liggett Knight Fundraiser Raises Record Amount

A record amount was raised for University Liggett at the annual Liggett Knight fundraiser.

More than 300 friends and supporters of University Liggett School recently gathered at the Detroit Athletic Club for Liggett Knight, the school’s annual fundraiser.

The event raised which $330,000 to support the school and its faculty and students in the classroom, according to a release.

Liggett Knight chaired by Patti Ilitch and Kris Mestdagh, featured silent and live
auctions of items ranging from student artwork to trips with the Red Wings to
jewelry and gift certificates donated by local businesses.

“Liggett Knight, and this fundraising total, would not have been possible
without the hard work of our volunteer corps and the support of our sponsors,
benefactors and other friends of Liggett who donated their time and treasures
to help the school,” said Associate Head of School for Advancement Kelley
Hamilton. “It is more proof that the community knows Liggett is a vital resource
for the area and values its forward thinking educational philosophy.”

This year's event raised a record amount to support University Liggett and its faculty and students in the classroom, according to a release. Last year the event raised $200,000.
