Power Outage Closes Brownell Middle School

Following yesterday's wavering weather, Brownell Middle School has been closed today.

Classes for students was cancelled today after the building had to be closed due to a power outage, according to the district's website.

The power outage follows yesterday's ever-changing weather, which wavered between hot, clear and sunny moments and cloudy, dark and sprinkling rain to all out downpours. District officials believe the outage is due to the weather.

The district encountered problems with its telephone system and computer network throughout the day, which Superintendent C. Suzanne Klein noted during the school board meeting late Monday.

According to the website, the building is closed today, May 24, only. Repairs are being made and district officials are hopeful to regain full power and strength to the building soon.

Part of the problem stems from low voltage power on two the buildings three phases, causing all of it to be shut off to ensure safety of the computers, according to district officials.
