My predictions for the Michigan Wolverines upcoming Football Season

My predictions for the Michigan Wolverines upcoming Football Season

Last season, the Michigan Wolverines got back to respectability.  They went 11-2 and had huge victories over Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. This season they hope to have more of the same. In order to repeat however, they have to go through a tough schedule.

Here is my predictions on how they will do this year:

Game 1: VS Alabama: Taking on the defending national champions will not be
easy. I really don’t like their chances.

PROJECTION: LOSS (0-1) (0-0) in Big Ten

Game 2: VS Air Force: Air Force isn’t even in Michigan’s league. This should be a solid victory for Michigan.

PROJECTION: WIN (1-1) (0-0) in Big Ten

Game 3: VS Massachusetts: This is another no-contest. This should be a blow-out victory for Michigan.

PROJECTION: WIN (2-1) (0-0) in Big Ten

Game 4: @ Notre Dame: This will be a tough one. They match up well with each other, but I’d give the slight edge to the Irish, seeing how they always seem to play Michigan well at home.

PROJECTION: LOSS (2-2) (0-0) in Big Ten

Game 5: @ Purdue: Michigan did beat Purdue last year, but that was a home game. Playing them on the road might be tough. I still see them
coming out on top this year though.

PROJECTION: WIN (3-2) (1-0) in Big Ten

Game 6: VS Illinois: This should be an easy win for Michigan, but I wouldn’t underestimate Illinois chances, otherwise they could
be in for an embarrassing upset.

PROJECTION: WIN (4-2) (2-0) in Big Ten

Game 7: VS Michigan State: This rivalry game is especially crucial for both teams. It should be a close game, but I see the Spartans coming out on top in this one.

PROJECTION: LOSS (4-3) (2-1) in Big Ten

Game 8: @ Nebraska: Michigan won handedly last year at home against the Cornhuskers, but playing on the road might be a tall order. I see them winning a close one though.

PROJECTION: WIN (5-3) (3-1) in Big Ten

Game 9: @ Minnesota: This is hardly a contest. Michigan hasn’t lost in Minnesota in a long time; in fact, they’re undefeated inside the Metrodome. Look for that trend to continue here, and for Michigan to bring home “The Little Brown Jug”.

PROJECTION: WIN (6-3) (4-1) in Big Ten

Game 10: VS Northwestern: This should be a promising game for Michigan. Even if they get down at the half, I wouldn’t panic, because Northwestern is known for blowing big leads in the 2nd half.

PROJECTION: WIN (7-3) (5-1) in Big Ten

Game 11: VS Iowa: This should be one of the biggest tests for Michigan all season long. They lost a tough game against Iowa on the road last year, but I feel the home-cooking should help them this year.

PROJECTION: WIN (8-3) (6-1) in Big Ten

Game 12: @ Ohio State: This is THE game. It’s the one that fans of both teams look forward to. Michigan won the last meeting at home, but I see the Buckeyes rebounding this year.

PROJECTION: LOSS (8-4) (6-2) in Big Ten

Count them all up, you have an 8-4 record, 6-2 in the Big Ten. Good enough for a bowl game. A slight downgrade from last year, but still a respectable one.
