Jazz Workshop in July at GPW First English Lutheran for every level, every age, every instrument
5th ann. Metro-Detroit Jazz Workshop takes place in mid-July at GPW First English Lutheran Church. It is for every age, experience level, and instrument.
If you are either an amateur musician, or have a motivated high or middle school student, consider going/sending them to the 5th annual Metro-Detroit Jazz Workshop.
At First English Lutheran Church, students spend an entire week in July studying with a first-class faculty, learning jazz theory, composition, improvisation, and take part in master-classes. Multiple classes and combos assist every level of musician.
Students also play in combos of like-experienced students coached by faculty. We play a concert for family and friends at Cliff Bells Jazz Club on Sunday after workshop. All instruments incuding singers are welcomed, jazz or classical. Talent scholarships available.

SESSION I (High School/College/Amateur)- Monday July 8 to Friday July 12. 10am-5pm daily- tuition: $399.00

SESSION II (Middle School Camp)- Monday July 15 to Friday July 19. 12-3pm daily- tuition: $249.00
Middle school jazz introduction camp puts students in a jazz band or combo to work on and prepare for their high school jazz band.
Session I has a student to faculty ratio of 5:1
Overall, you become a better musician and improve or learn about jazz. You meet and network with people from all over the immediate area, and most of all, have fun!
