Better Weather, Big Games

Patch pleads to Mother Nature as all three schools face big games this week in baseball, soccer and golf.

Dear Mother Nature,

This crazy-weather-thing you’ve got going on here in Michigan isn’t funny anymore.

It’s making our job here at the Pick of the Week pretty difficult.

Fields are flooded, fans are frozen in the stands, and games are getting cancelled left and right.

If you could please wave your wand, wrinkle your nose or place an order with the sun (whatever it is you have to do), and send some spring-like weather our way.

This is getting ridiculous.

Sincerely,

John

Well fans, I hope that does some good.

Either way, we’ll continue to press on here at Patch and look at the week ahead, fingers crossed that the weather turns the corner and turns into something that resembles spring here in the mitten-shaped state.

Before we get into what leis ahead, let’s take a second to send out some kudos to the the baseball teams from and who managed to sneak in games between the bad weather and play well. North beat Lakeview and Martin Luther King, while GPS ousted Cousino and River Valley (OH).

Now, let’s take a brief look at some interesting games this week.

-Big game for the Knights baseball team Monday afternoon. The squad hosts Detroit Catholic Central and will most certainly be tested.

  • North and South square off on the links Wednesday afternoon at Gowanie Golf Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
  • The baseball squads from GPN and GPS battle each other Wednesday afternoon at North beginning at 4:30 p.m.
  • The Blue Devils soccer team has a key game this week as well - at Eisenhower Wednesday evening. The two squads are locked up atop the Macomb Area Conference Red thus far this season. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
