Big House Big Heart Charity 5K/10K/1M Walk-Run

Best Friends Books Foundation, a nonprofit founded in honor of Tracie Dold Volpe, a third-grade teacher who passed away four years ago, is teaming up to be a part of the Oct. 9 Big House Big Heart Run 5K/10K/1M walk-run in Ann Arbor.

The Big House Big Heart walk-run event starts and finishes at the University of Michigan’s famous football stadium, The Big House. The 5K and 10K events take you through the University of Michigan campus with a spectacular finish–a run through the Big House tunnel and onto the field. Runners finish on the 50 yard line and watch themselves on the Big House big screen. The event map starting and ending locations will be included with runners' registration packets.

Through Best Friends Books Foundation's partnership with the Big House Big Heart run, 100 percent of the donations made on behalf of Best Friends will be made available to Detroit Public Schools, Alternative for Girls, Catherine Ferguson Academy, Epiphany Reading Tutoring Program, and Grosse Pointe Title 1 programs at Defer and Poupard elementary schools. The funds are used for books, both new and slightly used, to be gifted to the organizations meeting their needs for literacy.
