Developmental Disabilities Awareness Fun Fitness Walk Firework – Let Your Colors Burst

On SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2011, The Arc of Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods is hosting a fitness walk to increase community awareness of the valuable contributions individuals with developmental disabilities offer to our community. This fun filled event for individuals, their family and friends gives everyone an opportunity to come together and celebrate each of our unique gifts.

 

The fitness walk and other activities are from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Neff Park 17150 E. Jefferson Grosse Pointe.

The Arc of Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods has been supporting and advocating for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities to be an Active Member of Their Community Since 1963.  The Arc of GP/HW mission is to promote and protect the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by supporting their full inclusion and participation in education, work, and leisure activities with in the community.  Currently we offer advocacy assistance for education, work and housing, grants to help families receive respite care and equipment/therapy, and we sponsor several social/educational events. The Michigan Arc was founded in 1951.  The ARC of the United States will be featured in the October issue of Time magazine.
