NEW! DWRA INTRO to ROWING WEEKEND, Adults 18 - 100+

Weekend: September 8 & 9
Time: Saturday September 8th 8-12:30
Sunday September 9th 10-12::30
Who: Adults, women & men, age 18 to 100+

The adventure begins!
DWRA specializes in starting rowers out right with patience and loads of encouragement while keeping the lessons light and fun. Our location offers the perfect environment for lessons with calm water in a close setting right outside the DWRA boathouse.
The morning begins with a warm welcome and tour of the facility and equipment before the coach introduces you to the basics with rowing machines, safety video, and equipment familiarization. Boat commands and blade work are then directed from the dock before your "crew" carries boats to the dock for launching.
An early afternoon vegetarian lunch with beverage will be served picnic style while we review the morning lessons and then back to the dock and into boats. In the case of odd numbers you and your teammates will take turns in boats while the remainder assess technique from the dock. As the first day comes to a close you'll be amazed at how much you've learned about rowing and about yourself!
Sunday the crew returns and the coach will begin with a review and Q & A session. Time to shove off the dock and work together to move forward...or is it backward?!

Location: DWRA is located on the grounds of the historic Lawrence Fisher Mansion, 383 Lenox St,, Detroit, MI 48215

Fee: $190 Includes coaching by certified USRowing coach, insurance, equipment, lunch & beverages

What to wear or bring: Comfortable but not baggy clothing, athletic shoes & socks, lightweight shirt(s) suitable for the weather, a hat and or sunglasses, sunscreen, camera and water bottle.
Important! What NOT to wear:
1. Sweat shirts or any top with front pockets without zip closures. When rowing your hands can get caught in the pockets which can pose a safety issue to you and your teammates.
2. Open back flip flop type sandals
Sandals with back straps are A OK.
3. Leave clunky bracelets, watches and other jewelry behind as they tend to scratch the boats and inhibit your rowing.

Please email us at dwra.org@gmail.com to confirm your spot for this special weekend. Forms and waivers will be sent to you

I can wait to meet you and get you started on a wonderful activity you can continue throughout your life.
